It depends on what kind of fundraising you want to do. If you don't want to shell out money to MAKE money, the best route to take is a catalog fundraiser. With May approaching, breast cancer awareness month is around the corner and Pampered Chef, the company I work with is donating $1 per product they sell to the American Cancer Society. 15% of total product sales go to your organization as well. Think about it this way, if you have 50 peoplefrom your congregation selling the products thru the catalog and they each generate $200 in sales, you have a total of $10,000 which means $1500 for the church. Not bad considering you don't have to shell out a dime. If you need more details, you may contact me at brookman@fidnet.com
References :
Your idea would be especially good for raising a spirit of community among the church that would make future fund raisers more successful. The hamburger cookoff might be a good idea, but the cost of the meat itself might make it difficult to make more than a minimal profit.
