Church Fundraisers

Everything about church fundraisers

What are good fundraisers for churches? And where do I get info.?

Would like to present some fundraising ideas to my church. Where do I get info?

I think it is wonderful that you are interested in ideas to help raise money for your church!!

I have a few suggestions:

1. a yard sale is always good. It takes work but it's so simple and a very good way to get things cleaned up around your home.

2. a car wash. Churches, schools, sports teams all use this idea around my town and make good money. Local auto part stores let them use their lots and water for free.

3. an auction. We have a local channel on tv and they host auctions for the above. Donations are made from area retailers etc. and they are auctioned off.

4. local radio. Allows an amount of time on air for people to call in and donate money.

5. a carnival. One church here does a Fall Festival every Halloween. It's fun and a safe way to keep kids off the street on such a night. They have cake walks, games, etc.

6. a cookbook. This would be fun and a good way to raise money. Church members could put their fave recipes in and you can sale them for $10.00 easily. Ask banks etc. to let you sale some there.

7. Get permision to do a bake sale on the side walk in front of your WalMart store. That makes $$ here and we live in a small town.

8. a hot dog/hamburger stand. Groups like polital or special education/olympic groups usually have one. You could borrow/rent it and sale a coke & burger or coke/dog for a buck or so. Most area stores will donate the stuff needed. Coke in our area donates all the time.

9. craft sale. Around the holidays would be a great time for this. Make crafts the kids can help and sale sale sale.

10. pictures. many churches here gets someone to take photos. They sale the packages at a higher cost to make their dollars.

11. do a sock hop. have a park area that you can use? do karoke, hula hoop comp., play 50's music, have a dress up contest, a car/bike show, sale ice cream, burgers, hot dogs.

12. a dance. If you have many younger kids/teens do a dance for them.

13. a chili dinner. This is a good idea when football starts. Get permission to do it before a home game or at a youth football game.

I hope I've helped in some way :)

Rummage sales are popular with churches.

First try "google" or "yahoo" search. If you don't find anything….some fun things that we've done is a yard sale, a bake sale, a car wash, an auction. The auction would be the best one! The youth group (ages 13-18) would be there auctioning themselves off to members of the church & neighbors & would do some work around their house for just a couple of hours & they'd have to pay for it. It helped both the church & the neighborhood….so it was doubly worth it.

I was going to say rummage sales, but I see someone beat me to it.

One church where we used to live had cookouts on Friday evenings, and charged $5 per person–less for young children.

They also had Sunday morning pancake breakfasts, and charged about $4 per person (less for children).

Another church had rented rides from a carnival (and the people to operate those rides)–there was a tremendous turnout for that.

Also try local business's see if they would be interested in sponsoring an event in return for free advertising of their business.

Check with the pastor first about church fund raising policies.

Some churches will buy candy and resell it at a 50% profit.
Other churches don't consider this to be appropriate.
Putting sweat equity into the fundraiser ( eg car-wash) is acceptable in these churches.

A church policy may be that no fundraisers may not be used for anything that is in the current church budget (those being seen for by offerings)

Still another policy may be that "salespeople" may not approach members coming or going from the church service.

Selling custom rubber bracelets is still a popular and profitable method to raise funds. Have a spiritual phrase or bit of scripture on the bracelet and choose any color or color combination to fit your organization. Greats awareness and are very popular to wear.
