How Do I Raise money quickly for Missions Trip?
Hi, My youth group and I (it is also open to the entire church too though) are going on a missions trip this summer and I need roughly about $2500 to $3000 to go! We've thought of all the typical things like car washes, yard sales, etc (But we have to wai until warmer weather to do those) and we need to get started raising money NOW!! So do you have any ideas that would work for winter fundraisers? The three of us are also trying to get jobs, but we live in an extremely small town so it is hard most people don't hire teenagers and the places that do aren't hiring anyone right now. (also asking the church for support is out because this is an entire church event i.e. it is open to everyone, and since a lot of the church body is trying to raise money we can't ask them for help.! Got any ideas? Thanks
If your real goal is to help people who need it, why do you have to go on a trip? Why can't you save all that travel money and help people in the town where you live?
If the real goal is the trip, then drop the "missions trip" pretext and just admit that it's a vacation.

Don't. Not everyone wants to be Christian. Use the money to send FOOD not BIBLES to starving people instead.

I am persuaded that if you are called by God to foreign missions you should approach you church leadership for ideas. If they feel you are right for the position the church will supply your way and cover the costs. I think you are talking about Home Missions. In such a case you might also want to consult your church elders about funding part of the trip for you. Otherwise the things you mention are good starters. What about doing small chores for your neighbours (especially the older ones) That way you don't only earn you missions funding but those people get help with things they need. I think of Spring yard cleanups and so on. Every home owner does it but some are not healthy enough to do it themselves. since it is open to everyone in the church seems to get me thinking that the church would be more apt to help. However from small towns come small churches and the wherewithal to SUPPORT may not be there. How much time do you have before leaving? Cleaning out eves troughs, shovelling walks, I am not familiar with your community but I am sure God will open doors if it is His will you go.
