Our company - BargainMugs.com, sells personalized drinkware for fundraisers, events etc. Our coffee mugs, sports bottles, and travel mugs in particular are very popular with churches for promotional fundraising. We are factory direct and so customers save 40-50% off retail priceing, which allows a great profit margin for fundraising!

I have a few suggestions for you.

1. We do an annual "Enchilada lunch". We get together to make them, and then sell them on Sunday morning. Last year we raised more than $1,000, and we only had about 100 people! We do enchiladas because I live in New Mexico, and so it is a common food, but you could do something else like pasta or sandwiches.

2. Ice cream socials. Easy, fun, sweet. We bought ice cream in bulk (from Sam's Club), and toppings, and then charged people, I think, $5 for a scoop (it is a fundraiser after all) with toppings.

3. We did a talent show one year with the children and youth of the church. We charged people and "entry fee" (usually they don't mind because they know it is going to a good cause), and we all did our talents. It was a hit!

4. Because you said you have a lot of older people in your church, how about organizing something like a 50's themed dance/dinner night. You could play swing music, and even cater it yourselves, and just charge people to get it. That would be fun!
References :
Member of a church youth group, organized many a fundraiser, and my father is a youth minister.

Gee, seems like you have tried everything. Have you tried a "Barn Dance". I know that it sounds cheesey, or a themed dance. Like the Roaring 20's or a Square Dance.
References :
Because the people are older, you could go to their houses and offer to help around the yard or inside of there houses for a fair price. Also, our church youth group raises money by making meals and getting people to come and pay $5 a person to eat.
