My youth group is trying to raise money for events and we have a good amount of money but we need more for what they want to do. Does anybody have any good ideas for fundraisers that a church can do?
Jon,
Bake sales, raffles, craft fairs, rummage sales, clothing consignment drives are all good ones.
May favorite Christmas fundraiser is gift wrapping. Go to a local retailer and ask if they’ll let you do in-store giftwrapping for their customers in exchange for donations. They usually love to be able to offer the service.
Staff member Travis gets his WHOLE head shaved due to demand from a fundraising event from a Sunday morning to raise funds for Summer Camp for the Walnut Grove Youth Group.
The good sir shaving the head of Travis is Pastor Jessie who also got his head shaved due to demand from a fundraising event to raise funds for Summer Camp for the Walnut Grove Youth Group.

My church youth group is going to a really big church camp towards july. It’s called snowbird (swo.com) and they charge $360 per person. It’s VERY expensive yes, but if you go to their website you will see why. But anyways, like i said the price is very high and from our church about 12 kids are going. So i need a lot of help on deciding what we should do as a fundraiser to earn A LOT of money for us. Our town is very small, about 800 people, and our mayor doesn’t care what we do just to come up with an idea fast and have enough money by late june. Please keep it at least a little simple. nothing TOO extreme
Thanks, any further questions

I think the website reference should be http://www.swoutfitters.com/ not just ‘swo’.
Don’t forget about the cost of getting there, plus allowing for some extra expenses and optional stuff. Depending on how far you have to go to get there, figure another $100+, or about $500/person. So 12 kids would be about $6,000.
It’s early enough that the kids could earn money doing yard work, babysitting, city clean-up, etc. (after all, THEY gotta want it!) Add to that a church White Elephant sale, bake sale, youth group car/pet wash. I don’t recommend candy or magazine sales: only a small percentage goes to the kids and it’s a ton of work.
