fundraising ideas?
I am planning on going to a mission trip to Guatemala in August, and I wanted to know some ideas for fundraising. The church I am going through does not have fundraising for the people going, but only specifically for projects once we get down there. What would be appropriate? Would a bake sale at work be appropriate? Is there a letter format I can send out to family/friends, or is that tacky? I need $1,000…any suggestions? I've never done this before!
I would see if you could get another banquet hall and put out signs and invite people and do a stuffed baked potato dinner…. you can prebuy a lot of thing in advance and if you dont use it you can always take the food back. Potatos are cheap so if you dont use them you dont lose alot of money out of your own pocket.
Ive done speg. dinners, taco salad dinners, and every time I did I got over 1000 dollars for one days worth of work. You can use cheap styro plates from walmart and cheap fork napkins and water or tea. Thats really all you need. (Bread if you do speg.)
Its a mission trip so you need to have pictures of what you will be doing on your flyers or on a poster board when people walk in to pay. It will make you more money if people know what they are giving money for.
Dinner should be by donations only. You can get more money that way.
If you chose to go with potatos…toppings would be…… chopped ham chunks (pre packaged) sour cream, butter, green onion, chili (canned), salsa, cheese. I also suggest washing all the potatos and putting them in foil roasters and not individually wrapping them.

Help with making cute sweets/cakes?
I really need help with making sweets/cakes. I have no ideas! I need to make something for my church fundraiser and I need to make it really cute. For example: a cupcake with like decorations on top or something. Any ideas? Please help me!
Well you can make flowers by smooshing some small gum drops into round or tear dropped shapes, and place them like petals around a yellow or orange one. Do this on a whole cake and do a couple of them.
Another thing to make even the simplest deesert look pretty is to melt some milk choc, whie choc, or btterscotch chips in the micrwave or ina double boiler. Sccop the melted chips into a zip top baggie with the one end cut off.
While you are melting the chips find or draw a picture of a butterfly. Place smal pieces of waxed paper on top of the butterfly. Pipe the butterfly onto the wax paper. You can fill it in or leave it as just an out line.
Let it cool for a few minutes, then put in a corner, on old cereal box works well, cut in 1/2. Let the butterflys set up in this corner, put them in the freezer to get them to set faster.
Peel off the wax paper and place on cupcakes, brownies and any other bar type desserts.
