tips to fundraise for an upcoming trip?

sometime next year- most likely the summer, i will be going to kenya with a group of other youth students for 3 weeks with the foundation called Me To We and Free The Children. the trips total cost is $5000. I will need $500 in about a week to 2 weeks to pay the registering cost.

i want some good tips on how to make fundraisers to earn the money and tips on how to get them started.

io only have a year before the trip so I’m trying to make the money quickly. i know i can get money from family members and churches and what nots but i wanna work for most of the money.

any answers will help!!!
thanks!!!
LOVE IS THE MOVEMENT!
MAD SPINACH- thanks for the advice they’re good and i’ll do them but the thing is most of the other kids going live in like Canada and around america so yeah that would’nt work but thanks i’ll still do them

do a yard sale–pool together stuff from friends, family, anything that they would give you, and do a yard sale–post it up in a bulletin, advertise it, let neighbors know (in advance). online auction (eBay, amazon.com, ect)

you if you’re selling things, you really want to get rid of them, and make SOME money, so:

for food related things: sell them for about $1 (it doesn’t seem like a lot to the buyer, but in reality, to make a cookie, it takes less then $0.50
a bag of chips is actually $0.33, but you can sell it for $0.50: you added a little on for profit, but not too much that they would rather buy it from somewhere else.
you can also sell drinks like soda, lemonade, bottled water– you can sell it for $0.50 when in reality, on sale, soda is for about $0.31 @ jewel’s.

while talking so much about $0.50, you will need a lot of quarters for change–go to a bank/ walk into a store to see if you can get change. if not, see if you can sell your items for $1 instead.

if you have friends that work in a restaurant, see if they can get you some things wholesale–it is so cheap, it’s just very helpful (restaurant depot is very cheap, but you need to be a member/ have the membership card to get in, meaning someone has a restaurant business license, and you have permission to use the card)

you can also try: sam’s club (they have a membership fee), costco, ect. where they don’t pad on prices so they can make money.

you can sell at:
public places (local pool, parkin lot of somewhere, in a park)
door to door
in a school –students are okay with spending money esp. since they don’t think about the fact that it’s actually cheaper elsewhere if you do the math. do it in the cafeteria, when they come there for food anyway, esp. since cafeteria food is bad.
train stations
busy streets (like in downtown)
