Holy Trinity Youth Group Fundraiser–Youth Group Drawing

This competition has been closed. The winning youth group, St. Marks, from Harvey, LA was selected in a drawing on January 2, 2011.

In 2006, the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Juneau, Alaska was destroyed in a fire, and we are in the process of rebuilding.

The Holy Trinity Youth Group has taken on FUND RAISING to finish the kitchen area in the new building. The cost is estimated at $100,000. That seems like a lot of money until you figure out how much it cost to get things to Alaska. Juneau is a remote community which means you can only get here by boat or airplane. That makes everything expensive.

So we decided to contact Episcopal Churches in the States and ask them to help us by having their own FUND RAISERS to help us raise the money needed to finish the kitchen. The kitchen is important to us because when its done we can make stuff to eat when the youth group meets, and we can also use it to host events in our community.

When we had our old church, we did a lot of cooking, and many groups used our facilities.

In return for you helping us, we will hold a drawing. The winner of the drawing will get a trip to Juneau, Alaska in the summer of 2011.

We looked into how contests work and there are always lots of rules- but we will try and keep this simple:
∙For every $300 that a Youth Group sends us, we will place a piece of paper with their name on it in the drawing box. So, for example, if you sent us a check for $700.00 you would get two tickets with your Youth Groups name on it placed in the box.
∙The drawing will take place at the end of December, 2010, following our church service. We will then notify the winning Youth Group to start making arrangements for their travel. Well also notify the other Youth Groups about the results of the drawing.

We will provide:
∙Alaska Airlines miles for 8 kids and 2 adults to travel to Juneau, Alaska in the summer of 2010.
∙We will provide housing, meals, and fun things to do while you are here. Fun things here might include fishing, whale watching, hiking, and boating, just to name a few.

If you are interested and want more information please watch the video and/or contact us at: holytrinity@gci.net or Holy Trinity, 416 Harris Street Suite 205, Juneau, Alaska 99801.

Fundraising Video for St. Patrick’s, Los Angeles

Visit http://stpatrickla.org
Imagine losing your church to an earthquake in 1971. Imagine having to spend the next 35 year worshipping in a cramped, former parish hall while you and your community try in vain to raise the money needed to rebuild. This is the story of St. Patrick’s, a poor inner city parish in Los Angeles. The idea was born of building a church for St. Patrick’s Parish through the efforts of all the parishes in the region of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles, as well as generous individual donors. The church is close to completion but the fundraising effort continues. We need your help to close out our goal of raising the total project cost. Visit http://stpatrickla.org to find out how you can help. All donations are tax deductible.
